TVG(TimeVariableGain)
TheTimeV ariableGain(TVG)functioncontrolsthegainof
thereceiversothataschoolwithagivensizeanddensityis
presentedwithapproximatelythesamestrengthonthedisplay,
insidetheregulatedTVGrange.Thiscanalsobeseenasalter,
becauseitreducesthenoiseclosetothevessel.Theregulated
strengthoftheTVGcanbeselectedinthemenu.
Noiselter
Thenoiselterisdesignedtoremoveunwantedacousticnoise
fromthesonarpicture.Itwillreducetheinterferencefromother
acousticsystems(sonarsandechosounders)onyourownvessel
andfromothervesselsinthevicinity.Itwillalsosuppressthe
noisefromyourownpropellersandfromothersimilarnoise
sources.
Transmission
ThetransmissioniscontrolledfromtheProcessorUnit.The
parametersyouhavechosenaretransferredtotheTransceiver
UnitbymeansoftheEthernetcable.
TheTransceiverUnitcontains480transmitterchannelswhich
aredistributedon16identicaltransceivercircuitboards.Each
transmitterchannelisindividuallyloadedwiththeparametersfor
therelevanttransducerelementposition.Theparametersinclude
poweroutputandtimedelaytoformabeamwiththeselected
beamangle.
Whenthestabilisingsystemisactive,thetiltangleforeachbeam
willautomaticallybecorrectedrelativetothevessel’spitchand
rollmovements.
Optionalfunctionality
TheSimradSH90isasingle114kHzsonarwithbeam
stabilisation.
Theoptionsdescribedbelowarepreprogrammedintothe
standardsoftwareversion,andacodewordisrequiredtomake
theactualoptionavailable.
