Cabletrays
Allpermanentlyinstalledcablesassociatedwiththesystemmustbesupportedand
protectedalongtheirentirelengthsusingconduitsand/orcabletrays.Theonlyexception
tothisruleisoverthenalshortdistance(maximum.0,5meters)asthecablesruninto
thecabinets/unitstowhichtheyareconnected.Theseshortserviceloopsaretoallowthe
cabinetstomoveontheirshockmounts,andtoallowmaintenanceandrepair.
•Whereverpossible,cabletraysmustbestraight,accessibleandplacedsoastoavoid
possiblecontaminationbycondensationanddrippingliquids(oil,etc.).Theymustbe
installedawayfromsourcesofheat,andmustbeprotectedagainstphysicaldamage.
Suitableshieldsmustbeprovidedwherecablesareinstalledinthevicinityofheat
sources.
•Unlessitisabsolutelyunavoidable,cablesshouldnotbeinstalledacrossthevessel’s
expansionjoints.Ifthesituationisunavoidable,aloopofcablehavingalength
proportionaltothepossibleexpansionofthejointmustbeprovided.Theminimum
internalradiusoftheloopmustbeatleasttwelvetimestheexternaldiameterof
thecable.
•Whereaservicerequiresduplicatesupplylines,thecablesmustfollowseparatepaths
throughthevesselwheneverpossible.
